A Top Down Approach to Recycling
Radical Recycling Performance – See Inside
(Charlotte, NC, Charlotte Observer, June 18, 2015) When it comes to materials that should be recycled, roofing is not one that immediately comes to most people’s minds. However, the truth of modern, high-impact recycling is that consumer goods like cans, bottles, paper packaging, and more are only the tip of the iceberg. Take for example the recent massive recycling success made possible by locally owned contracting company, Radco Roofing. The firm, which says it stands for Radical Performance, specializes in commercial and industrial roofing and exterior maintenance.
One of their latest projects was a complete roofing solution at Daimler Freightliner Custom Chassis in Gaffney, SC. Radco Roofing was able to leverage their experience and expertise to recycle 100% of the waste product from the project – which included more than 12 tons of total recyclable material. Even roofing membrane and insulation from the project were re-used as part of a waste-to-energy program, made possible by Daimler’s primary solid waste provider that services all of Daimler’s facilities.
Since 1987, Radco Roofing has held a strong commitment to leading-edge technologies and minimized waste. To date, the company works hard to incorporate recycling into every project, making sure to re-use or properly redistribute materials such as metal, wood, insulation, beadboard, and several types of roof membrane.
